I recently pick up a pair of "Stanly Screamrer's". 604 HPLNs/288/94's. **** they are graet. Beats the .. out of my 2245/515/1005/828's.

They also offered a system with dual 604HPLN in the 817 horn box and 288/94 as a mid component.

Bottom right, shown without the 288 and horn.

I'll bite, Jim. What in particular outshines the 828s?

Mine are in the 817 cabs with 288G/MR94's. They make better and lower bass than the 2245 sub in the bottom of the 828. I, also, like the 94's better than the 1005 but not by much.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">By placing the 2245 at the bottom of the 828 you defeat the purpose of the bass reflex properties of the 828. The 2245 should have their own enclosure. The A-5 is an oustanding speaker that will give you as much oumph than the 817
    cabs.

Hmm- my experience has been the opposite- the 817's go lower than the claaic VOT.

To be fair to both cabs we would need to try different drivers and tuning. Just wanted to say the 817's worked better for me- but I would use subs with either.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's the point of doing it. Replace a boom-boom cavity resonance with a linear driver.
